The Sycamores Bed and Breakfast, Lawrence, Central Otago

Formerly the Presbyterian Manse, The Sycamores, one of a number of historic restored Lawrence buildings, now enjoys a new lease of life. Lovingly restored to its former glory, the Sycamores is a tranquil bed and breakfast accommodation in the centre of Lawrence.

Accommodation includes 3 bedrooms, (for a maximum of 5 guests), lounge, laundry and kitchen facilities. We also have available a children's room', please enquire for tariff details.

A former gold mining town, Lawrence, on the fringe of Central Otago, offers activities ranging from the relatively sedate to the more energetic including golf, fishing, tramping, cycling and horse riding.

It was in Lawrence on the 23 May 1861, that one Gabriel Read struck gold in the area now known as Gabriels' Gully. Describing the gold he found as “shining like the stars in Orion on a dark frosty night”. The sister township to Lawrence, named after the defender of Lucknow, is Waitahuna, once known as Havelock and named after Sir Henry Havelock who led the relief column into Lucknow.
